Poverty Guidelines
Once the Department grants a discharge, the borrower is then subject to a 3-year post-discharge monitoring period beginning on the date the Department grants the discharge. During this 3-year period, the Department will request documentation of employment earnings in order to verify that the borrower did not have annual earnings from employment over the Poverty Guidelines for a family of two in the borrower’s state of residence, regardless of actual family size.
